We are the Cronulla Youth Weight Training Association (CYWTA), proudly serving the community since 1964. December 2024 marks 60 years of continuous operation. As a not-for-profit Incorporated Association under the NSW Fair Trading Act, we are run entirely by volunteers, with no paid staff or employees. All monies collected go to covering our costs like rent and insurance.
The CYWTA has over 230 members, nearly half of whom are juniors under 18, with an average member age of only 23. Our membership spans generations—families, local politicians, Shire managers, surf club members, and even graded footballers have trained with us over the decades. Every afternoon, local schoolchildren come straight from school to train, cementing our place as an iconic Cronulla institution and a vital community service for the Shire’s youth.
Since 1981, we have operated from our premises in the Pavilion at Gunnamatta Park, where we are open seven days a week. These premises are ideally located in the Park at 39-41 Nicholson Pde, Cronulla, a short walk from Cronulla station. Parking is available on Nicholson Pde adjacent to the Park.
